Stage 1: Brainstorm

AESTHETICS

It took some time and several sites to decide on a proper look for our site!

we've actually gone through 2 sites already, and this is our second and last one.

BRAIN MOLD ARRIVAL

dimensions are 22.2 x 19.7 x 9.8 cm (length x width x height)

GEDANKEN (Thought experiment)

Due to the fact that only the brain could be tested at the level of high school students, the rest of the body, such as the bones and inner organs, will have to be tested using thought experiments. These experiments would be derived from actual facts and research and the results will be assumed according to these facts. The gruesome details can also be imagined, if one wishes to do so.

POTENTIAL MATERIALS?

-brain mold

-agar agar???

-lots of gelatin????

-ballon

-glue

-news paper

-scooter

-lot of tape

-PASCO probes (motion sensor)

-pink dye

-cameras

-spring

HYPOTHESIS?

The hypothesis of our lab was thought up. The experiment to be conducted is of a brain shaped object to be hurled towards a wall.

The thought up hypothesis would go something like this:

If a brain was to slam into a wall at a high speed, it would cause damage to the brain due to it colliding with the inside wall of the skull due to the three motion laws, momentum, and the properties of elastic and inelastic collisions.

POTENTIAL PROCEDURE?

The experiment for the brain collision was planned out in this fashion.

  1. the brain would be placed in the skull as realistically as possible.

  2. the skull and brain would be attached to a scooter, a platform device with wheels, which would be borrowed from the school's phys-ed department.

  3. PASCO probes would be set up in the experiment area. experiment area must have a wall

  4. all computers and timers and cameras and such would be set up around the experimental area

  5. scooter will be slid towards the wall

  6. results will be recorded

  7. this process should be repeated at least 3 times, each with different values of acceleration.

This process shouldn't take too long of a time, as this is the only thing that will be tested with a practical experiment.
