How other parts of the body are affected in car crash
Following up on my last post, I am going to take about different parts of the body and organs that can be affected by a car collision. Due to quite a lengthy post last time, I’ll try to keep this one short and simple.
The neck
The neck can be at risk amidst a car crash mainly due to the weight of your head. When your head suddenly comes to a stop, the neck is affected and can experience whiplash as a result. This can become more extreme as the neck can actually break if high enough speeds are established. Moreover, the various different bones and tissues that are in the neck along with the fact that many nerves run through there makes it vulnerable to various problems such as neck sprain, muscle damage, or even nerve damage.
The heart
The reason for injuries in a car crash is usually due to the sudden change in speed, where the car is moving really fast and then it stops all of a sudden. It causes many body parts to collide with one another and then injure it. Take the example of the heart. It can collide into one’s breastbone, causing the aorta to detach. As a result, the passenger will bleed out and ultimately die.
The lungs
Car crashes are sudden, unexpected, and undesirable. As humans, we usually do not try to get into car accidents. They instead come as a surprise to us. The realization of a collision may only come to the attention of the driver and passengers maybe a few seconds before at best. A common thing many do once realizing that they may crash is gasp. This is quite unfavourable as one fills their lungs completely with air right before a collision. This increases the likelihood of a lung injury significantly, as a rupture in your lungs will become more likely to occur.
