We’re in the winter season and snow is falling… or it
should be. The tires on your car are a big difference in being safe in the now. But, what is the difference between winter tires and the standard ones and are they really worth installing?
The simple answer is yes. Winter tires are specifically made for winter conditions and consequently have better traction. They fare well in different winter roads that can range from snow and slush to icy roads. The tread rubber is made to work extremely well in lower conditions and gives an all-around superior control on the road.
These claims are proven by statistics as well. Take the example of Quebec. 96% of drivers used winter tires prior to 2008. When that year came, it became mandatory in the province to use winter tires. A 2% increase in drivers using winter tires then resulted in a 5% drop in car crashes that year.
So, go out and grab yourselves some winter tires. It is worth the investment.
